Getting Better About Staying on Track - I Kept My Routine Over the Weekend and I Feel Powerful

Weekends are tricky. I keep on track Monday through Friday but I’ve always had a hard time staying on schedule on the weekends.

Last weekend, as you may recall, I fell off the structure bandwagon big time. No exercising, no meditating, no gratitude writing. I was determined to get my routine back.

I’m pleased to write that I stayed on track Saturday and Sunday. It wasn’t miraculous or cunning behavior it was just reminding myself that I’d made a promise to stay on schedule and to keep my routine no matter what life tossed my way.

I actually think writing it down and putting it out there helped me stay on track. This won’t be groundbreaking information to most of you but I’m still fairly new to the whole “write it down” idea.

The act of putting it out there and holding myself accountable made me step up and stay structured and kept me focused.

I’ve now written for 15 days straight — that is a personal best for me. Is it my best writing? I don’t think so — but it has taught me the importance of showing up and doing the work every single day.

I’m building a foundation, a structure of my own—using all the bits I’ve learned over the years and all the treasures I’ve found on Medium.

I feel good about where I am and that keeps me going, keeps me motivated and keeps my routine in check.
