We're Halfway Through March - I'm Building My Writing Habit One Day at a Time

I could tell you that I’m feeling excited, energized, inspired, motivated—the list of synonyms is endless and it would be a bit of a lie.

Frankly, I’m exhausted. It’s been a challenging week — I fully recognize it’s only Wednesday.

Work, family, friends, writing — everything is vying for my attention and getting it all done, and done well, has left me feeling the opposite of how I want to feel.

That said, as I type this, I feel better. I know that keeping my butt in the chair and my fingers typing is helping me build a habit. When this post is done and I get to mark off another day in the calendar—that will feel great, and 16 days of that great feeling is worth feeling exhausted.

Those of you who know me, know I’ve been working on a book for a very long time. You’ve been patient and supportive for longer then I care to acknowledge.

My real hope with this March ‘write every day’ experiment of mine is that it builds my confidence to write more.

I have found that when a post is done I feel invigorated, not because my writing is life altering but because the practice is altering my life.

By sitting down and writing every day and putting it out into the world, I’m acknowledging that this work is important to me, that it is a part of me, that I feel damn good when it’s done, that it is a passion worth fighting for.
