I’m Going All In for March

How Beyoncé is unknowingly helping me get out of my head and onto the page every day in March

Writing can be hard. Full stop. I listen to podcasts. I journal. I meditate. I read. I watch YouTube videos. I highlight advice. I start, and I start again.

One thing I've never tried, despite the endless advice from all of the above sources: the daily practice. Why? Because it's a daily practice and I'm busy.

Then I remembered this little tidbit that simultaneously annoyed and activated so many: "You have the same number of hours in your day as Beyoncé."

Yes, we all have the same number of hours in our day. Beyoncé, while amazing, cannot alter time. The difference is in how she spends those 24 hours compared to how I spend mine.

What Beyoncé seemingly does - we're not tight so I don't know for sure - is that she fully commits. She goes all in. Now, I've talked about going all in, I even have a 'Go all in' as my screensaver - but have I really tried? No.

Psychologist, Dr. Suzanne Gelb has studied "super-achievers" like Beyoncé for years and identified five key traits they have that are achievable if we tweak our mindset, step up, and, yes, go all in.

1.     Fully Commit

2.     Avoid Multitasking

3.     Ban "Friendly Interruptions" at All Costs

4.     Hang With Fellow Super Achievers

5.     Prevent Emotions From Building

So, this is my March promise to myself and Queen Bey: While some days may prove better than others, I will write every day. Every single day. I will commit to a daily practice. I may not become a super achiever but I have 31 days to give it my all by going all in.
